As the push to “go green” and “build green” becomes increasingly important, we at North Country Custom Builders pride ourselves in being a company that has already “gone green.” We know what true green building is and we exercise those practices everyday. We build insulated concrete form (ICF) homes. We know where our lumber and materials come from and how they have been treated. And we know which products, from windows to HVAC systems, are the most energy efficient.
Building green doesn’t have to be a complicated process. In fact, in many cases we are able to use standard materials. For us, addressing green building methods starts at the beginning, with the construction fundamentals and design basics. From there, we select materials that are renewable and/or recycled and products that are energy efficient.
We try to use materials from the area in which your project is being constructed. By doing this we are cutting down on transportation costs and any pollution that would be associated in the transportation process. We try to use short-term growth lumber, bamboo flooring and clay tiles. North Country Custom Builders understands the importance of adding extra insulation for greater efficiency. And we are proponents of using solar panels and geothermal heat pumps as a choice of heating and cooling.
North Country Custom Builders is committed to integrating green building methods and attributes into your construction project. This is not only a great business practice for us but it is also a great benefit to you as a client. Building green cuts back on material waste, is better for our environment, and provides for homes that are safer to live in and more energy efficient, which saves you money.
